Description

Indianola Public Schools is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-focused 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional to support an individual student in the special education setting. This position plays a key role in helping a student access instruction, build independence, and achieve personal and academic goals in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 support to a student with special needs during the school day
Assist the student in accessing academic instruction and classroom activities
Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the teacher and IEP team
Support behavior management plans and reinforce positive behaviors
Assist with communication, social skills, and functional learning as needed
Monitor and document student progress as directed
Support student transitions throughout the school day (classrooms, lunch, recess, etc.)
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA
Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED
Ability to work closely with students who have special needs
Strong patience, flexibility, and communication skills
Ability to follow written and verbal directions from certified staff
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Must pass background check and meet school employment requirements
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students with disabilities
Training or experience in behavior support strategies
Previous paraprofessional or childcare experience
