Description

Indianola Public Schools is seeking a motivated and student-centered 7–12 English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping students develop strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while creating a positive and engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach English Language Arts courses for grades 7–12
Develop and deliver standards-based lessons aligned to the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS)
Support student growth in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and communication skills
Prepare students for state assessments through targeted instruction and practice
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
Assess student progress and provide timely, meaningful feedback
Maintain a structured, respectful, and engaging classroom environment
Collaborate with colleagues to improve instruction and student outcomes
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field
Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in English/Language Arts (or ability to obtain)
Strong knowledge of secondary ELA content and instructional practices
Effective classroom management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching middle school and/or high school English
Familiarity with Oklahoma state testing and standards
Ability to incorporate technology and writing across the curriculum
