| Description | Indianola Public Schools is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance & Transportation Director to oversee the daily operations of district facilities and student transportation services. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, clean, and well-maintained school buildings, as well as coordinating bus routes, vehicle maintenance, and driver supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, leadership ability, and a commitment to student safety. Responsibilities include managing maintenance staff, developing schedules for preventative maintenance, overseeing transportation logistics, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining accurate records. Preferred qualifications include experience in facilities management, transportation coordination, or a related field. A CDL (or willingness to obtain) is beneficial. Indianola Public Schools is a small, rural district committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students and staff. | Required Qualifications | High school diploma or GED (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred) Experience in maintenance, facilities management, transportation, or a related field Strong knowledge of basic building maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs) Ability to supervise and manage staff effectively Organizational and time-management skills Ability to coordinate transportation routes and schedules Knowledge of safety procedures and willingness to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations Valid driver’s license (CDL or willingness to obtain CDL preferred) Ability to pass background check and meet school employment requirements Strong communication and problem-solving skills Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently |
